Our Students Love Us

Your aviation dreams take center stage here. Whether pursuing a professional career, building flight hours, or seeking leisurely adventure, we have the perfect path for you.
Sport Pilot Certificate
Created for people who desire to fly recreationally.
The cost depends on your goals and how often you fly, but FlyTech is one of the most affordable and efficient programs in the region. Students pay as they go, and financing is available.
As a general guide:
Sport Pilot Certificate – about $5,800
Private Pilot Certificate – an additional $6,000–$12,000 if starting from scratch
Keep in mind, FAA requirements are minimums, many students choose to fly more hours for added confidence before their exams.
Each certificate has minimum FAA requirements, but your schedule largely determines how quickly you finish. You can train weekly, bi-weekly, or even monthly, there’s no set pace. We’ll help design a schedule that fits both your lifestyle and budget.
Typical timelines:
Sport Pilot Certificate – about 6 months with 2–3 lessons per month
Private Pilot Certificate – typically 12–18 months
Additional ratings depend on your hours, experience, and training frequency.
Our fleet is built around two of the most trusted training aircraft: the Sling NGT and the Cessna 172. For multi-engine and complex ratings, we also maintain access to a Piper Seminole in Kansas City. Training is supported by our Redbird MCX full-motion simulator.
We also provide training for endorsements such as twin and complex, plus refresher training for rusty pilots needing an IPC or updated avionics experience.
Absolutely. FlyTech offers both flexible and accelerated programs, so you can train at your own pace or fast-track your license.
Yes. To act as pilot-in-command, you’ll need to pass an FAA medical exam with an FAA-approved doctor. However, you can begin training and take discovery flights before obtaining your medical. By the time you’re ready to solo, the exam must be complete. Our team can guide you through the process.
Yes. We have limited on-airfield housing and can also help coordinate off-airport accommodations, whether you need short-term or long-term options.
Yes! Students who complete all their ratings with FlyTech are guaranteed an interview for a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) position. Becoming a CFI is one of the best ways to build hours and gain experience toward a professional aviation career.
Weather is a natural part of aviation training. If conditions aren't safe for flying, we'll reschedule your lesson at no charge. We use these opportunities for ground instruction, simulator training, or to review flight maneuvers and procedures. This flexibility ensures your training continues productively regardless of weather conditions.
All FlyTech instructors are FAA-certified with extensive flight experience. Our team includes CFIs, CFIIs, and MEIs with diverse backgrounds in both civilian and military aviation. Many have airline experience and continue flying professionally while teaching. We prioritize mentorship-focused instruction over high-volume training.
Absolutely! Many of our graduates have gone on to careers with airlines, cargo carriers, corporate aviation, and flight instruction. Our training meets all FAA requirements for commercial aviation careers. We also offer guidance on building flight hours and connecting with aviation employers in the region.
FlyTech operates under FAA Part 61, which offers more flexibility in curriculum and scheduling compared to Part 141. Part 61 allows for personalized training plans, accommodating your schedule and learning pace. While Part 141 programs are more rigid, Part 61 often provides more thorough, individualized instruction that leads to better-prepared pilots.
Yes! We offer comprehensive ground school through GroundSchool.com, allowing you to study at your own pace. Ground instruction covers aerodynamics, aircraft systems, weather, navigation, FAA regulations, and flight planning. We supplement online learning with in-person sessions, simulator time, and practical application during flight lessons.
Initially, you'll need very little, just bring yourself and a desire to learn! We provide headsets and all training materials for your first few lessons. As you progress, we recommend purchasing your own aviation headset, iPad with ForeFlight, and basic flight training supplies. We'll guide you on equipment purchases based on your specific training goals.
We use FourForces scheduling system, allowing you to book lessons online 24/7 with real-time aircraft and instructor availability. For cancellations, we require at least 24-hour notice to avoid charges. Weather cancellations are always free and we'll work with you to reschedule promptly.
